Zarko Perfume Launches New Fragrance

Zarko Perfume introduces its newest addition to the family. A complex yet mystical and alluring scent, Chypre is widely acknowledged as the most sophisticated, elegant and beautiful of fragrance compositions.

The name of this ancient fragrance family comes not from the cypress tree, but from the French word for Cyprus. The name ‘Chypre’ is mentioned frequently in eighteenth-century perfume manuals, but its exact origins are shrouded in mystery. Evidence suggests that it dates back to Roman times, where Cyprus was known as the birthplace of Aphrodite – the goddess of love – and where many of the aromatics that distinguish this powerful fragrance flourish.

As a fragrance, Chypre tends to be warm, dry and built almost entirely on a woody, mossy accord of bergamot, oakmoss, patchouli and labdanum notes. Elements of flowers, fruits and woodiness are sometimes also in play. In modern times, Guerlain included two early chypres in its range. But it was perfume pioneer François Coty who finally popularized the mossy, animalic ‘ka-boom’ fragrance with his hugely successful ‘Chypre’ in 1917.

“To me, CHYPRE 23 represents the very essence of great aromatic composition. It is complex, rare and sophisticated. Yet it’s also quite daring, with the power to liberate those who wear it to explore boundaries and indulge in bold self-expression.” – Zarko

An almost operatic phenomenon that can startle, dazzle and captivate, CHYPRE 23 is a true odyssey of the senses.

Zarko Chypre 23 is available to buy from Feel Unique, priced at £85 (100ml)
